Lead times depend on the order and are confirmed when you order. When the goods arrive, inspect them straight away: defects must be reported within 3 days.

Lead times

Timbo doesn't publish standard lead times, because they depend on what you order, how much, current stock and where it's going. Put your requested delivery date on the purchase order, and Timbo confirms the lead time and freight when you order. For time-critical jobs:

  • order as soon as the client signs, not when the subfloor is ready;
  • check stock on large or mixed orders before you promise a date;
  • allow time for acclimatisation on site before installation starts;
  • for New Zealand, allow time for customs clearance – your customs broker will advise.

What to put on your purchase order

A complete purchase order prevents most delivery problems. Include:

  1. products and quantities (in boxes);
  2. delivery address, or "pick-up";
  3. requested delivery date;
  4. receiving or site contact name and phone number;
  5. access notes: stairs, no-truck zones, loading dock hours, tail-lift needed.

Receiving checklist

Check every delivery on arrival, while the driver is there if possible. Orders are final except for damaged goods, so this check is your protection.

  • Count the boxes against the delivery docket and your purchase order.
  • Check product and size on the labels (for example herringbone 710 or 820mm).
  • Inspect packaging for crushed corners, tears, water marks or wet cartons.
  • Note any visible damage on the delivery paperwork before signing, where possible.
  • Open a sample of boxes and check boards for damage, machining defects or anything unexpected.
  • Photograph any problem: the box label, the damage and the docket.
  • Email partnerships@timbo.com.au within 3 days with photos and your order details. Damage claims must be made within 30 days.

Storing parquet on site

Solid oak responds to humidity, so how stock is stored before installation affects how the floor performs.

  • Deliver late. Bring parquet on site after the building is enclosed and wet trades (plaster, tiling, screeds) are finished.
  • Store inside, in the room it will be laid in or similar conditions, never outdoors or in an open garage.
  • Keep it flat and off the floor, on bearers, away from fresh concrete, and out of direct sun.
  • Keep it in its packaging until your installer is ready to acclimatise and lay it.
  • Measure moisture. Timber equilibrium moisture content is about 11% at 25°C and 60% relative humidity, rising to about 16% at 80% RH (ATFA). Install within about ±2% of the expected in-service level (WoodSolutions).

Our guides on acclimatising oak flooring and moisture content explain how to measure and when to start. For slabs, read installing parquet over a concrete slab.

Ordering the right quantity

Running short mid-job costs time and freight. Calculate the area, add the waste allowance your installer sets for the pattern, and round up to whole boxes. A box of the 710mm herringbone covers about 1.4 m²; coverage for the 820mm box is confirmed on order. See how many boxes of flooring.

Frequently asked questions

How long does Timbo take to deliver?

Lead times are confirmed when you order, because they depend on the products, quantities, stock on hand and destination. Tell us your required date on the purchase order and we'll confirm what's achievable.

Can I pick up my order from the warehouse?

Yes, by appointment. Email partnerships@timbo.com.au to book a time at Altona North, and bring a vehicle that can carry the boxes flat and dry.

Does Timbo deliver to Sydney, Brisbane and Perth?

Yes. Freight from Melbourne is quoted per order to anywhere in Australia, and to New Zealand.

What if boxes arrive damaged?

Note the damage on the delivery paperwork if you can, photograph the boxes and contents, and email Timbo with your order details. Defects must be reported within 3 days of receipt, and damage claims made within 30 days.

How should parquet be stored on a building site?

Inside an enclosed, weathertight room, after wet trades are finished, flat and off the floor, and away from direct sun and moisture sources. Keep it in its packaging until your installer is ready to acclimatise and lay it.
