Prime grade European solid oak parquet, 18mm thick with tongue and groove: herringbone, chevron and pattern parquet.

What sizes does Timbo herringbone come in?

How many boxes of herringbone do I need?

Divide the floor area plus your installer's recommended waste allowance by the m² per box, then round up – for the 710mm size that is about 1.4 m² per box. Pattern floors need more waste than straight boards. See how many boxes of flooring.

What grade is Timbo oak?

Prime grade, the cleanest and most uniform appearance grade of European oak. Read the oak flooring grades guide.

Is Timbo flooring solid or engineered?

Timbo's herringbone and chevron parquet is solid European oak, 18mm thick, so it can be sanded and refinished many times. The Hybrid Oak Timeless Pattern Parquet is 15mm patterned oak squares, 450 × 450mm and 800 × 800mm. Compare solid vs engineered oak.

What is Timbo chevron parquet?

Solid Oak Chevron Parquet is Prime grade European oak, 18mm solid, with angled ends that form a continuous V. See the chevron product and herringbone vs chevron.

Can I get free samples?

Yes. Trade partners and their clients can request free samples. Homeowners can see samples through a Timbo partner.

Does Timbo install floors?

No. Installation is done by Timbo partners and their installers. Find a partner for supply and installation.

Can solid oak parquet be laid on a concrete slab?

Yes. It is normally glued to a flat, dry slab with a moisture barrier or moisture-barrier adhesive, following the adhesive maker's limits. See installing parquet over a concrete slab.

Does oak flooring need to acclimatise before installation?

Timber should be installed close to the moisture content it will live at – within about ±2% of its in-service equilibrium moisture content, according to WoodSolutions. Your installer will check and acclimatise as needed. See acclimatising oak flooring.

What moisture content should timber flooring be?

Australian interiors typically sit at 8–14% equilibrium moisture content, so the right figure depends on the house and region. Ask Timbo about moisture content at dispatch. Read moisture content in timber flooring.

Can Timbo oak go over underfloor heating?

Ask Timbo and your heating supplier before specifying. Engineered timber is generally preferred over heating, and floor surfaces are usually limited to about 27°C with a floor sensor. See underfloor heating and oak flooring.

Why does solid parquet need expansion gaps?

Solid oak swells and shrinks as humidity changes, so a gap is left at walls and fixed objects to let the floor move without lifting. See expansion gaps for solid parquet.

Is Timbo oak supplied raw or pre-finished?

It depends on the batch – ask Timbo which batches are currently raw or pre-finished. See raw vs pre-finished oak flooring for the pros and cons.

Should I choose an oil or polyurethane finish?

Oil gives a soft, natural matt look and can be spot-repaired; polyurethane forms a harder film with less routine maintenance. See oil vs polyurethane finish.

Can European oak be white-washed or smoked?

Yes. European oak takes white-wash, lime-wash, stains and smoked (fumed) finishes well, which is a big part of its appeal. See our oak flooring guide.

How many times can an 18mm solid oak floor be sanded?

Many times over its life, because the timber is solid oak all the way through. The exact number depends on how much is removed each time and the condition of the floor.

How do I clean and look after an oak floor?

Vacuum or sweep regularly, use a damp (not wet) mop with a cleaner suited to the finish, put mats at entries and felt pads under furniture. See oak floor care and maintenance.

Do timber stairs need a slip rating?

Yes. Stair treads need P3 (dry) or P4 (wet) slip resistance under the NCC and AS 4586; level internal floors are not generally given a mandatory rating. See slip resistance on timber stairs.

Timbo does not publish retail prices. Homeowners get a supplied-and-installed quote from a Timbo partner; flooring businesses receive wholesale pricing after accepting the partner terms.
