What is timber flooring wholesale?
Timber flooring wholesale is the supply of floorboards and parquet to flooring businesses at trade prices, for them to resell and install. A wholesaler doesn't sell to the public. Timbo is a wholesale supplier of Prime grade European solid oak herringbone, chevron and pattern parquet, based in Melbourne and supplying the trade across Australia and New Zealand.
The Australian market for wholesale floorboards
Timber is the largest segment of a big, steady market. The Australian wood and laminate flooring market was estimated at USD 1,718.6 million in 2024, forecast to reach USD 2,342.2 million by 2030, with wood the largest segment (Grand View Research). Estimates for the total Australian flooring market vary widely, from about USD 4.85 billion to USD 9 billion, so treat any single figure with caution (Research and Markets, Expert Market Research).
Demand follows construction and renovation. Dwelling approvals were up 10.3% year on year in August 2026 (ABS), and alterations and additions approvals rose 14.0% in value (HIA). Renovations are where premium parquet often sells.

Three ways to source floorboards for the trade
| Import direct | Buy from a retailer | Buy wholesale from Timbo | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price level | Lowest unit cost at full-container volume | Retail price | Trade price under retail |
| Commitment | Container quantities, paid well before arrival | One job at a time | Project quantities, no container minimum |
| Cash tied up | High | Low | Low to moderate |
| Compliance as importer | Your responsibility | Retailer's | Timbo holds the stock in Australia |
| Marketing support | None | None | Product content, imagery, guides, directory listing |
| Leads | None | None | Website enquiries referred to partners |
Importing direct can make sense for a business that moves high, predictable volumes of one product. For most showrooms and installers, the cash, time and compliance work outweigh the unit saving. Why Timbo goes through this honestly.
What to look for in a wholesale flooring supplier
Whoever you buy from, check these before you commit:
- Grade consistency: one clearly named grade, so samples match deliveries.
- Published specifications: exact dimensions, profile and box coverage you can put in a quote.
- Local stock: how much is held in Australia versus shipped to order.
- A written claims process: how fast defects must be reported and what evidence is needed. Timbo's is 3 days for defects and 30 days for damage claims.
- Documentation: what sourcing and product-performance paperwork is available.
- Support beyond the invoice: samples, technical guides and help selling the product.
Delivery across Australia
Stock is dispatched from Timbo's warehouse at Altona North, Melbourne. Melbourne partners can pick up by appointment. Freight to every other state and territory is quoted per order, and lead times are confirmed when you order. Partners in Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra and Hobart order the same way: email a purchase order, accept the freight quote, pay, and receive. See delivery and lead times.
Compliance when buying imported timber
Australian businesses that import regulated timber products must have a due-diligence system under the Illegal Logging Prohibition Act 2012, as amended, with new rules in force from 3 March 2025 (DAFF). Buying from stock already in Australia means you aren't the importer for that purchase. Ask Timbo for the product documentation available for your records, and read our illegal logging compliance guide.

Frequently asked questions
Who can buy wholesale floorboards from Timbo?
Flooring businesses: retailers and showrooms, installers, builders, developers, interior designers and architects. Timbo doesn't sell wholesale or retail to homeowners; they buy through a Timbo partner.
Is there a minimum order for wholesale timber flooring?
There are no container minimums – partners order project quantities from Melbourne stock. Order by the box; ask Timbo if you have a very small quantity in mind.
Do you deliver wholesale flooring interstate?
Yes. Freight from Melbourne is quoted per order to anywhere in Australia, including Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra and Hobart.
Are your wholesale prices published?
No. Wholesale prices are shared with partners once they accept the partner terms. See how trade pricing works.
What's the difference between a flooring wholesaler and a flooring distributor?
In practice the terms overlap. Both sell to the trade rather than the public. A distributor often holds stock for a manufacturer's brand across regions, while a wholesaler may stock several sources. Timbo holds its own Prime grade European oak range in Melbourne and sells only to trade partners.
